Oof, the introduction. I guess the best place to start is a little about me. I live in Massachusetts with my husband, and french bulldog. I'm the oldest of four and the only girl. Growing up, my mom was focused on me learning all the skills necessary to be a 1950's housewife. As a result, I learned how to knit way before it became a trendy activity hipsters participated in at a bar over craft beer. I also learned how to sew, crochet, cook, bake and preserve. However, I cannot say I loved learning these skills and to the surprise of no one, including my mother, I took a bit of a detour from becoming Martha Stewart and decided instead to get a PhD in economics. But somewhere along the way, I began reverting back to these hobbies as a way to clear my mind and take a break from academia and work. Over time, I found I was as likely to be doling out baking advice as I was to be providing economic consulting services. So for the sake of efficiency and as a way to gather data, I have decided to use the interwebs to explore new projects and share tips and thoughts along the way. You can think of this blog as an experiment with home economics from the point of view of an economist. I hope you enjoy!
